Congratulations to the NECO student innovators who presented their ideas on advancing eye care through new products and technologies. Judges heard exciting pitches from Morgan Zbikowski, Ade Owolewa, and Ricardo Delgado at the 2021 NECO Student Innovation Competition. The NECO Student Innovation Award worth $5,000 from MyEyeDr. and Jobson was awarded to Morgan Zbikowski and the People’s Choice award went to Ade Owolewa.

Innovations presented included a clinical skills video archive, a color changing contact lens that transforms as it degrades to prevent overwear, and a retrospective study concerning the incidence of preventable visual complications caused by glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy to stress the importance of a yearly comprehensive eye exam.
