The American Academy of Optometry’s annual meeting was held in San Diego, California this year to record-breaking crowds. Our NECO faculty members stood out as leaders during the industry meeting as they presented over 20 lectures and poster presentations, were honored with several industry awards, chaired special interest groups, and even completed an inaugural leadership academy during AAO’s centennial event.
As part of the 50th Anniversary celebration of NECO and Community Health Center partnerships, we will be honoring NECO faculty, students, and community members for their dedication and perseverance in providing eye care for all.

Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO) Recognize NECO with the Jack Bennet Award
The American Academy of Optometry Foundation announced Stephanie Aigbe, OD, as the 2021 recipient of the Alfred A. Rosenbloom, Jr., Low Vision Residency Award. Dr. Aigbe is a graduate and the first Low Vision Rehabilitation resident at the New England College of Optometry.
Sandra Mohr, EdD, Dean of Academic Resources and Administration at New England College of Optometry, was recognized as one of Vision Monday’s “Most Influential Women in Optical” for 2021. Dr. Mohr was honored in the Mentors category.
Three NECO faculty and attending optometrists were recently named in in Newsweek’s America’s Best Eye Doctors. Newsweek published a list of the top 150 optometrists, as recognized through a survey measuring different attributes including quality of care, continuity of care, and quality of technical equipment used.
