NECO Makes Impact at AAO’s Annual Meeting
The American Academy of Optometry’s annual meeting was held in San Diego, California this year to record-breaking crowds. Our NECO faculty members stood out as leaders during the industry meeting as they presented over 20 lectures and poster presentations, were honored with several industry awards, chaired special interest groups, and even completed an inaugural leadership academy during AAO’s centennial event.

Alumni Spotlight: Dr. Amy Moy
Dr. Moy received her Doctor of Optometry Degree in 2003, and now serves as an Adjunct Associate Professor of Clinical Optometry at NECO as well as Director of Health Center Network and Chief Compliance Officer. In addition to her NECO roles, Amy is also an Attending Doctor at the Martha Eliot Health Center.

3 faculty named to Newsweek’s Best Optometrists list
Three NECO faculty and attending optometrists were recently named in in Newsweek’s America’s Best Eye Doctors. Newsweek published a list of the top 150 optometrists, as recognized through a survey measuring different attributes including quality of care, continuity of care, and quality of technical equipment used.
Gary Chu named to the Massachusetts Asian American Commission
Gary Chu, OD, MPH, FAAO, Vice President for Professional Affairs, was recently sworn in as a member of the Massachusetts Asian American Commission (AAC).

Douglas J. Hoffman, OD, FAAO, was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award 2021 by the Association for Schools and Colleges of Optometry (ASCO).

The Association of Schools and Colleges of Optometry awarded NECO Vice President of Professional Affairs Gary Y. Chu, OD, MPH, FAAO, the 2021 Dr. Jack Bennett Innovation in Optometric Education Award.
