Student Spotlight: Mia Gheduzzi ’25

Undergraduate degree – Providence College in RI

Hi! My name is Mia Gheduzzi and I am in my second year at NECO. My journey here started back when I was in sixth grade and at my very first eye exam I was told I needed glasses. Not eager to add glasses to my already fragile middle school psyche, I went directly to wearing contacts. But this was no easy feat. Struggling to put them in and take them out, I was in the optometrist’s office every day needing help. This experience not only enabled me to become proficient in wearing contacts, it stands as a critical juncture in my optometry journey. I found the function of the eyes fascinated me as so did the eye exam. This coupled with the active office environment and patient clinicians working with me, has brought me where I am today and I couldn’t be happier. I discovered what I wanted to do with my life and found an amazing school to turn my passion into a career. NECO’s family-like atmosphere is both welcoming and supportive and in a vibrant city rich with opportunities. I feel lucky to be a part of this community and surrounded by such great people!
