NECO Hosts “Graduate Strong” Event to Empower Class of 2025

Nearly 100 students gathered for a full day of professional development, expert insights, and career connections

During the last Sunday in March, the New England College of Optometry (NECO) hosted its annual Graduate Strong event, welcoming nearly 100 students from the Class of 2025 to campus for a dynamic day designed to prepare them for life after graduation. The event focused on equipping soon-to-be optometrists with practical knowledge, professional connections, and the confidence needed to take their next steps as healthcare professionals.

The day featured a series of engaging panels and talks covering some of the most pressing topics for graduating students, including student loan repayment strategies, licensure and credentialing requirements, and tips for navigating contract negotiations. Experts provided students with actionable insights and answered questions in real-time, helping to demystify many of the challenges that come with transitioning from student to practicing optometrist.

A key highlight of the event was the opportunity for students to engage directly with over 25 companies and professionals from across North America. Whether students plan to remain in the United States or return to Canada to begin their careers, Graduate Strong served as a valuable networking platform—opening doors to new job opportunities, mentorships, and long-term professional connections.

In a field that demands both clinical expertise and business acumen, the event reinforced NECO’s commitment to preparing graduates not just to practice optometry, but to thrive in it. For many students, it was a meaningful milestone on the road to graduation—and a powerful reminder that their NECO community stands behind them as they take the next big leap.
