#WeAreNECO Interviews: Meet Maa

Maa Ahema Awasabisah

“Great experiences forge great doctors” applies to everything we do at NECO. The statement is not only referring to our early clinical education and extracurricular/service opportunities, but also to the experiences we bring in as individual students. Our unique background and interests play an important role in creating our collective student experience. While our common interest is the passion for our future profession, each of us have a different take on what brought us here and why we love it.

Meet Maa Ahema Awasabisah, Class of 2022

Where are you from?

I am originally from Ghana, West Africa. I have been in the United States for 8 years.

Was it a big transition to come to Boston?

Not much of a big transition. My family and I relocated to Massachusetts from Oklahoma 2 years prior to starting NECO.

What are two things you love about Boston?

I love that I get to experience all 4 seasons: winter, spring, summer, and fall. I also love the historic sites.

Why did you choose NECO?

I chose NECO to stay close to my family while I go to school.

What is your favorite thing about NECO?

The friendly atmosphere and the sense of community at NECO.
