NECO says goodbye to longtime mayor Tom Menino

Faculty, staff, and students pay their respects as the procession passes by the College

Boston’s longest serving mayor, Tom Menino passed away on Thursday October 30. Long known for his dedication to the neighborhoods of Boston, his funeral procession was designed to pass many of his favorite places in the city. This included a drive up Beacon Street past the New England College of Optometry 424 Beacon campus. Faculty, staff, and students came out to honor the former mayor as he passed by the College. Mayor Menino received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters from the College in 1994. A strong supporter of Boston communities, Mayor Menino praised the College for their service to the community as he received his degree.
