Dr. Arturo Ramos Caldera Awarded International Recognition by the European High Council of Doctors
New England College of Optometry alumnus, Dr. Arturo Ramos Caldera, MD (OD ‘05), was honored by the Consejo Superior Europeo de Doctores (CONSEDOC) at a ceremony in Barcelona on July 2, 2015. This European High Council of Doctors is sanctioned by the Government of Spain.
The award was presented by the Catalonia’s President, Artur Mas. During the ceremony, Dr. Ramos was granted Member of Honor status in CONSEDOC, which promotes scientific cooperation between European and international academics and researchers. Dr. Ramos practiced ophthalmology in Spain and Venezuela for over thirty years prior to moving to the US and completing the Advanced Optometric Degree Program at NECO.
This distinction is the highest award given by the European High Council of Doctors, recognizing the individual’s contribution to science and medicine. Honorees are chosen from among the health sciences, social science, technology, economics, and the legal field.
