Toronto Area Alumni attend Home Town Lecture on Low Vision

On Sunday, November 15, 2015, NECO Toronto area alumni gathered at Glow Fresh Grill in Don Mills, Ontario for Home Town Toronto. This continuing education program was part of the Home Town series that travels to several locations in North America providing professional programs to local alumni communities.

Fellow Canadian and Assistant Professor at New England College of Optometry, Nicole Ross, OD ’11, FAAO, delivered the Toronto lecture titled: Low Vision: Incorporating Low Vision Care into Primary Care Practice. The Toronto installment presented a primer for optometrists seeking to improve their ability to manage patients with visual impairment.  Discussions focused on low vision management and rehabilitative solutions. Dr. Ross is shown in the photo with Ali Hussen, OD, ’07.

Attendees received one hour of COPE certified CE credit, followed by a reunion style brunch with a College and Alumni Relations update by Margery Warren, Director of Alumni Relations.

Ms. Warren noted that there are currently seventy-eight students from Ontario enrolled at New England College of Optometry throughout the four year OD program and are eager to network with Canadian Alumni. Additionally, Eschenbach Optik’s, Ryan Heeney, National Sales Manager, Canada, introduced Eschenbach’s latest low vision products and raffled a SmartLux Digital Video Magnifier.

The program was sponsored in part by the Alumni Association and an unrestricted, educational grant by Eschenbach.
