Latest issue of AOA’s Eyes on the Future spotlights the work of faculty member Beth Harper, O.D.
Eyes on the Future, the American Optometric Association’s eNewsletter for students and recent graduates recently chose to highlight NECO Clinical Assistant Professor Beth G. Harper, O.D in their Optometric Educator in the Spotlight feature. In the article, Dr. Harper describes her work teaching optometry students, serving on committees, and dealing with challenges in the field of optometry. She offers the following advice to people considering a career in the field of optometry: “Go shadow different types of practice settings, from private practice to hospital based to see the variety of ways that optometrists operate in today’s health care arena.” Her advice to current students, “Work really hard in your early years to establish good study habits. Remember, each patient encounter is a learning opportunity. Go home after clinic and look up the conditions you saw that day to help solidify what you learned.”
