Benjamin Young, OD

Assistant Professor of Optometry

Dr. Young is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Primary Care at the New England College of Optometry (NECO) and teaches in the following courses: Clinical Reasoning I, Principles and Practices of Optometry (PPO) I, PPO II, and PPO III. Additionally, he helps facilitate clinical laboratory training as part of the Ocular Disease Principles course.

Dr. Young is also an Attending Optometrist at the NECO Center for Eye Care in Roslindale, where he provides eye care services to a diverse patient population and serves as a preceptor for second and third year students who are completing their clinical training. Dr. Young has a special interest in the ocular manifestation of systemic disease, glaucoma, and neuro-ophthalmic disease.

Dr. Young received his B.S. from the University of Connecticut in 2013 and graduated from the New England College of Optometry in 2017. After graduation, he completed a residency in Ocular Disease at the West Roxbury VA Medical Center and presented a poster at the American Academy of Optometry, where he hopes to obtain Fellowship in the upcoming year.

In his free time, Dr. Young enjoys playing piano, hiking, and spending time with family.
