Gang Luo, PhD, Associate Scientist at the Schepens Eye Research Institute and Assistant Professor at the Harvard Medical School will present a picture on “Mobile Technology for Vision Care” at the New England Collge of Optometry on Tuesday, December 2, 2014.
Dr. Luo explains: “In this presentation, I will talk about 3 mobile device apps that are developed in my lab for vision care. The first one is a video magnifier for people with central vision loss. It features a live image stabilization function, which can be useful when an optical telescope is attached to smart phone for far vision reading. The second on is a Google Glass app designed for visually impaired smart phone users as an alternative way for screen zoom. Utilizing prioperceptive feedback, the Glass app allows users to easily navigate through magnified screen and not lose context. The third one is a smart phone app designed for clinicians for strabismus assessment, which is essentially a computerized Hirschberg test. Evaluation experimental results will be presented for all the 3 apps.”
All are welcome to attend. One hour of Mass C.E. credit will be awarded.
The lecture will take place in Lecture Hall 3. Please join us for a reception in Conference Room 3202 on the 3rd floor following the lecture. Wine and light fare will be served.
