Special Populations Experience Course: Vision Therapy (ELC63014)
This is one of several elective courses focuses on the specialties of Optometry including; Pediatrics, Low Vision, Advanced Contact Lenses, Vision Therapy, and Individuals with Disabilities. Through weekly clinical mentor meetings, participation in the already existent Special Populations CEreal Thursday’s grand rounds presentations, required self-study written papers, case presentations and journal clubs, the student will gain an earlier and stronger experience in these specialties. Moreover, through concurrent supporting clinical assignments with a mentor in one of their specialty clinics, the student will be able to apply the knowledge gained through these small group discussions and self-studies to patient care. Enrollment into this elective will be application based. The application evaluates interest, academic standing, and potential extra-curricular scheduling conflicts (e.g. VOSH, etc).
