September 27, 2012 - Class of 2015 White Coat Ceremony
New England College of Optometry honored the Class of 2015 at its annual White Coat Ceremony on Saturday, September 15th. The event marks the important transition from student to clinician by presenting each student with a credentialing letter and their symbolic white clinic coat.
During the ceremony, President Clifford Scott, OD ’68, MPH, noted the importance of marking this occasion as a milestone in their optometric education. Outgoing Alumni Association President Kristen Griebel, OD ’97, likened the coat to symbolic uniforms in other professions, such as law enforcement or military, to indicate a role in society.
Each student was called on stage to be presented with his or her coat by selected faculty members, and then given their privileging letter to certify the student’s eligibility to begin seeing patients as a clinician-in-training. All white coats were donated by the New England College of Optometry Alumni Association.
Congratulations to the Class of 2015!
