“NECO Welcomes Dr. Jason Singh of OneSight”
This year’s Profiles In Vision honoree is OneSight, an independent non-profit organization committed to working to eradicate the global vision care crisis for the more than half a billion people who could have their sight restored with an eye exam and glasses. Dr. Jason Singh, the executive director of OneSight, will be speaking to NECO students on Wednesday, April 9, noon-1:00 pm in Lecture Halls 2 and 3 at the 424 Beacon Street campus. He will also be honored at Profiles In Vision at The Langham in Boston on April 10.
Since 1988, OneSight has partnered with local health organizations, governments, optical industry leaders, doctors and skilled volunteers to help more than 8.5 million people in 40 countries.
Because different communities require different solutions, OneSight provides quality eye care and new eyewear through short-term charitable Vision Clinics and Sustainable Vision Centers delivering permanent access to affordable vision care in underserved communities worldwide. In 2014, OneSight will expand its sustainable impact with community-based vision centers and central manufacturing infrastructure in West Africa and replication of its school-based vision center model in the United States. In addition, OneSight’s 2014 charitable programs will serve more than 250,000 people in 14 countries, including regional and Vision Van Clinics focused on serving students across 18 states.
