In a message to the College community today, President Clifford Scott and the senior leadership team wrote, “The College leadership at New England College of Optometry affirms its unwavering support of our students and employees and will pursue all available means to protect their rights.” Here is the full text of that message:
To the NECO Community
The College leadership affirms its unwavering support of our students and employees and will pursue all available means to protect their rights. Our culture welcomes and treasures the diversity within our student body and family of employees.
Last Friday evening, President Trump issued an executive order on immigration that indefinitely barred Syrian refugees from entering the United States, suspended all refugee admissions for 120 days and blocked citizens of seven Muslim-majority countries, refugees or otherwise, from entering the United States for 90 days: Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
Any students who are concerned that they may be impacted should notify Dr. Robert DiMartino, VP and Dean of Academic Affairs. Employees with concerns should contact Ms. Traci Logan, SVP for Finance and Administration.
We will continue to monitor this unfolding policy change.
