Jacky Kong, OD

Assistant Professor of Clinical Optometry

Dr. Jacky Kong is a pediatric optometrist at three health centers located in the Boston area (Martha Eliot Health Center, East Boston Health Center, Dimock Health Center) and holds a faculty position at the New England College of Optometry. Dr. Kong is a fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

His research and clinical interests include amblyopia, strabismus, binocular vision, visual field assessment in children, and functional vision assessment in children with special needs. During Dr. Kong’s research on visual fields in children, he has developed an LED based device which uses variable flicker frequencies and illumination in order to capture and map out gross field of vision in children with special needs. These devices have been donated to and is currently being used at the Perkins School for the Blind in Watertown, MA.

Dr. Kong is the founder of the New England College of Optometry chapter of Lions Club and actively participates in community based vision screening with Boston Chinatown Lions Club. Under sponsorship of FADCANIC and Williams College, Dr. Kong had an opportunity to spend time doing humanitarian work in Nicaragua, including the Rama Cay island (within the Bluefields Lagoon off the coast of Eastern Nicaragua), where he gave eye exams and dispensed donated glasses to the people in need. Dr. Kong has also spent time in Bogotá, Columbia doing humanitarian work for VOSH.
