Matty in the Morning Why is African American Heritage a Risk Factor for Glaucoma-Related Blindness?

Please join Louis R Pasquale, MD, Chief, Glaucoma Service, Mass Eye and Ear Infirmary, for a lecture on “Why is African American Heritage a Risk Factor for Glaucoma- Related Blindness?” The lecture will take place at the New England College of Optometry on March 30, 2016.

Abstract: African heritage is a risk for developing open-angle glaucoma, but it is also a risk factor for developing glaucoma blindness. This talk will explore the reasons why African heritage is a risk factor for glaucoma blindness. Understanding the reasons why African heritage is a risk factor for glaucoma blindness holds an important key to managing glaucoma in people of all races.

This early morning series of continuing education lectures focuses on a variety of optometric topics on campus.
