ASIP Application Instructions
When to Apply
An application and all required credentials and other requirements (transcripts, test scores, etc.) must be completed and received by the Admissions Office on or before October 30 of the year preceding desired admission to the Advanced Standing International Program (ASIP). All applicants must download the application from the website (www.neco.edu) or use the application attachment sent from the Admissions Office (admissions@neco.edu). DO NOT use the online centralized application for this program.
How to Apply
Here is a checklist of items required to complete your application. Please read and follow the instructions carefully to ensure that your application is given full consideration.
? Completed application form. Choose one of the following two methods:
? Download and print a paper application packet and mail the completed application back to us.
? Contact the Office of Student Admissions at 800-824-5526 or admissions@neco.edu and request a paper packet be sent to you by mail. Then, complete the application and mail it back to us.
? Applicants must complete three (3) Personal Essays/Statements.
? OFFICIAL transcripts from each college and university ever attended. Official transcripts must be sent by the issuing institution directly to the Admissions Office at the New England College of Optometry. All transcripts must be stamped with the school stamp or seal. DO NOT send copies (original or notarized) of your transcript with the application as we only accept originals sent directly from institutions.
If your transcripts do not include the NAME of the degree received, dates of attendance and the date that the degree was awarded (month, day and year), a letter must be sent with the transcripts including that information.
? Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) results. Applicants whose native language is not English are required to take the Internet-based TOEFL test. A total score of 88, including a 22 on the Speaking section, is required. Contact the Admissions Department for details. Please instruct the Educational Testing Service to send official score reports to the College. For additional information, write TOEFL Services, P.O. Box 6151, Princeton, NJ 08541, or check the TOEFL website. The Admissions Committee reserves the right to require applicants to undergo further language testing and instruction as necessary. ? World Education Service (WES) evaluation of foreign transcripts. Any transcript(s) from a university outside of the United States or Canada will need to be evaluated by WES. A course-by-course evaluation is required. www.wes.org
? Optometric practice questionnaires. These forms must be completed for a maximum of three optometric positions that you have held since graduating from your optometric program. Please start with your most recent position. Return all completed questionnaires with your application. The form is included in the downloaded or mailed application packet.
? Three (3) Letters of recommendation: Form is included in the download or paper application.
? Curriculum vitae.
? Non-refundable $75 fee. Payment may be paid by credit card, money order or personal check. Continue to the payment options page for more information or to pay by credit card.
