First deposit due: Within two weeks of acceptance
Second deposit due: May 15, 2017
Your first step is to confirm your enrollment by submitting your initial deposit of $1,000 (US) by the date listed in your acceptance packet, usually within two weeks of receiving an acceptance. You can pay your deposit online. If your plans change and you wish to release your place at New England College of Optometry, please inform us by March 31, 2017 to receive a full refund. Deposit cancellations after March 31, 2017 will incur a $250 administrative fee.
If you were admitted after March 31, you may receive a full refund of your initial deposit until May 15, 2017, but will incur a $250 administrative fee thereafter.
Your second deposit of $1,000 (US) is due by May 15, 2017 and will officially confirm your place in the class of 2021. You can pay your deposit online. Half of the second deposit is refundable by June 10, 2017 in the unlikely event your plans change after May 15, 2017.
No portion of the initial deposit is refundable after you have submitted a second deposit, and no portion of the second deposit is refundable after June 10, 2017. Both deposits will be credited toward your first semester’s tuition.

Housing and Housing Fair
NECO's office of Student Services is here to support your transition to Boston, and will host the Class of 2021 Housing Fair in June 2017. Information about the fair will be shared after the new year. At the fair, you'll be introduced to local realtors who can help you find an apartment. You'll also be able to meet fellow classmates and enjoy a weekend in Boston! We recommended staying for the whole weekend in Boston in order to view as many apartments as possible. Certiphi Background Check
Due: June 15, 2017
You will receive an email about your required background check from Certiphi one month after receiving an acceptance. Please complete this process as soon as possible. There are fees associated with the process, and the fees vary from student to student depending on the jurisdictions involved in the background check.
Final Transcripts, Test Scores, Prerequisites
Due: June 15, 2017
Submit your final official undergraduate transcript directly to the Office of Admissions. It must include the degree conferred. If you are taking summer classes or your degree will not be conferred by June 15, please send your updated transcripts as soon as they become available.
If you are relying on AP or IB scores to satisfy prerequisite requirements, we may ask for official reports. Please arrange for these to be sent directly from the testing organization to the Office of Admissions.
You can view a prerequisite evaluation in our Application Portal once you have submitted your first deposit. You will receive an email from Admissions with instructions for accessing the Portal.
Due: July 7, 2017
Your immunization form needs to be filled out, signed, and stamped by your doctor by Friday, July 7th, 2017. Forms should be sent to Deborah Picard via mail to 424 Beacon Street, Boston, MA 02115, fax to 617-587-5559, or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.Please also keep a copy of the form for yourself as you will need it in the future for clinics.
While you may start to work on fulfilling the immunization requirements as soon as possible, please note that the Tuberculin Skin Test portion of the exam can be completed no earlier than June 1, 2016.
International Student Visa Process
Initial documentation due: mid-July 2017
In late May/early June we will mail international students the forms, including the financial verification worksheet, required to apply for a Form I-20. There is nothing you need to do prior to receiving the forms. International students are asked as part of this process to provide proof of liquid funds of an amount sufficient to cover the first two years of study at NECO.
New Student Orientation
New student orientation will take place on September 5, 2017. Orientation attendance is mandatory for new students. Orientation is a great opportunity to register for classes, receive your NECO email account, speak with various members of the NECO staff and meet with your classmates.
